Directions 2011, and the future of NAV

Directions, NAV’s annual partner conference, is always one of our favorite events of the year. We get to meet our peers and ISVs (third party software vendors) in the Partner Channel, but more importantly it is an opportunity for us to get firsthand information from Microsoft about the future of NAV and exciting new features in upcoming versions.

This year was especially fun because we got a sneak peek and some hands-on time on NAV 7 which is scheduled for release next year. Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to share any details with you at this time, but suffice it to say that we were impressed and we think you will be too.

Front and center at Directions this year were Web Clients / portals for NAV and cloud-based hosting solutions courtesy of a couple different ISVs. Given the cost savings of using a lite user, the ability to connect to a NAV server from your device of choice (PCs, Macs, iPads, iPhones, Androids, and even Blackberries for some), and the ease with which implementers and system administrators will be able to set mobile professionals up with secure access on the go, these applications look set to become the hottest NAV add-ons this year and into 2012.

As always, we saw many other innovative add-ons for NAV as well as tried and tested add-ons that have been around for many years in the channel.

If you’d like to learn more about the NAV Web Client or Customer/Vendor Portal solutions we saw at Directions, you can leave a comment here or better yet, give our Customer Service Manager Devi Mahavir a call at (407) 658-1874 x 104.
