Perhaps you’ve been using Dynamics NAV for years. Smart choice! Or you’ve just gone live, in which case, Congratulations!
So tell me, does your Dynamics NAV Role Center look like this?
Or does it look more like this?
While I’m sure your system’s been configured to handle the mission critical aspects of your business like financial reporting, quote to cash, purchasing, inventory management, etc., I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me that little to no time was spent configuring and tailoring your Role Centers.
But this is precisely where decision makers and mangers get the most value and insights from Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Role-tailoring is an area of NAV that I’m very passionate about, and in this video blog, I’ll help get you started by showing how you can create Finance Performance charts in less than 5 minutes.
Finance Performance charts allow you to visual financial reports created using Account Schedules, and are interactive. Hover to view information, and click to drill-down into the report all the way to G/L entries and transactions.
Some people create summarized Account Schedules specifically for use in charts, but you can also use a detailed Account Schedule and simply select the information you want displayed on the chart (up to 6 values per chart).
In most Role Centers, you can show up to two Finance Performance charts at a time, although your developer or partner can easily add more. That said, one is more than enough really, because you can click on PREVIOUS and NEXT in the chart part window and cycle through your rolodex of Finance Performance Charts.
Prerequisites: One or more Account Schedules with one or more Column Layouts. There is no way around this, since Finance Performance charts run off Account Schedules.
Ready? Let’s go!
